T-RockJaws Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Sorry to say, nothing new to report. Still an extremely tough bite to get a hook set on... Put in at the bridge last night and ran up the Kings River arm to just a little above Viola then worked our way back. Did not really have a problem finding a bite, but the same old story of set the hook to soon and bring back half a worm. My partner had a nice 3 pounder that he got to the edge of the boat just to watch her swim away, come to find out she never got the hook in her mouth just simply was holding on to the tail with a closed mouth! Pretty much stuck with the big worms, never thru the jig. In hind site, I wish I would have at least give the jig a try. In 4 hours, we only had 4 or 5 fish with 2 keepers. Air temp was still 85 when we came out at 11:00...
johnboy2bfishin Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Nice to here someone is catching some. going to have get me some of those big worms. what brand do you throw or does it make a difference?
Members hogbob Posted July 30, 2010 Members Posted July 30, 2010 Put in at Mill creek lastnight just before 8 pm. We fished from mill creek to pt. 8. I stayed with the jig and had 10 fish with 1 keeper K . My boy throwed the worm most of the night. He had 5 fish ,but three were keepers with the best being a 3lb K. We spent 30 min under a dock around 9, had a good rain come thru. Bob
T-RockJaws Posted July 30, 2010 Author Posted July 30, 2010 Probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference on what brand you use for the big worms as there are several good brands. Zoom makes an "Old Monster" 10.5 inch worm that is a good one. However, I am a little partial to Berkley Power Bait on most of my plastics.
Jason Essary Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Zoom old mosters are a great plastic. Have been using them all season with great success. Essary Construction - Honest work for honest price Custom Construction and Remodeling Call for free quotes (417)338-6418 http://essarycustomhomes.com/
