I met up with WoundedOne at about 8:45 this morning. We left his truck at the takeout and headed upstream. It started off a little slow, with only a couple of short strikes at a buzzbait until WoundedOne finally hooked up with the first fish of the morning, a nice 13" LM. It took me a little while but I finally got one in the boat, another LM about the same size. Not too long after that, my partner made a great cast behind a rootwad and the next thing I hear is "there's a fish". And a nice one it was too, the biggest LM of the day. He has a way of catching at least one really nice LM everytime we float.

About 11:00am the fish started biting pretty good. I caught several fish in and around fast water. I even broke off a really nice brownie in a stretch of fast water. He jumped twice after I broke off, I think I saw a middle fin. After retying I managed one more smaller brownie and two LM's about 14".

Finally we made it to one of my favorite spots on this creek. It's a fast water section with a good amount of chunk rocks. In this somewhat narrow run I caught 5 brownies, none of which were smaller than 14 in. and my biggest of the day, which measured over 15 in.

I definitely caught more smallmouth today than I did Largemouth. It was a fun day and it was a great time fishing with Woundedone. We'll do it again real soon.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

Buzz, that is a beautiful brownie you're holding. Healthy looking fish. Chief, Dylan and I were kinda missing the fishing today. Had a great time at Cabela's this morning. Can't wait to get on the water with ya bud!

Yeah, that fish and all of the others were fat and healthy. We didn't catch a single fish that looked undernourished. All of the brownies I caught hit soft plastic craws (the usual arsenal) and weren't messng around. On the other hand, I had too many strikes on the buzzbait to count and never boated a single one. They were short striking the bait and several times they nearly pulled the skirt off. Unfortunately I didn't have any trailer hooks with me.

Yep Buzz, it's that time of year for the bottom bouncing jigheads. As hot as it is for us with the sticky air, those poor brownies are suffering from 100% humidity! See ya soon bud...

Great looking fish. Looks like you guys were doing all right.

The boys and I got out and floated this weekend also. Got a chance to talk to the newton county game warden. Hopefully shoal creek will be getting a little more enforcement, to keep the bass fishing enjoyable.
