gotmuddy Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Why cant I leave there without spending $100? I live 3hrs away but I wish it was further. This morning I was bass fishing on the white river when my pflueger cetina took a dump on me so we(I) decided to go to springfield. I returned the reel to BPS and upgraded to a 5.4:1 Johnny morris reel. I have been extremely happy with the three others that I have(all bought used) and cannot wait to get my new jig reel spooled up and in the boat. After returning and buying the reel we(I) walked around and found some stuff I know I needed. The thing that sucks is now I cannot go fishing until next weekend! everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

Muddy, I have a hard time getting out BPS without spending $200 or even $300, I have to stay out of there!!!
Dutch Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 You guys live too far away. I live close enough that I am in there every few days and over the years I have overstocked to the point that the last several times in the store I haven't been able to find anything to spend money on at all.

I think my wife would leave me if I did that. I almost did yesterday. I wanted a revo winch BAD but she would have had a breakdown if I would have bought a $200 reel. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Message to everyone, never ever go to Springfield without hitting the BASS PRO OUTLET store BEFORE you go to the main store. No fooling... you might find what you are needing for 50%. You'll be surprsed. Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.

I usually don't buy anything but It's cheaper than Chuck E Cheese and my 3 1/2 year old enjoys it about as much! When I am going in with my wallet I ALWAYS go to the outlet first. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack

Next time take the wife with ya to BPS. She'll pick up an anchor and smack ya with it if ya keep spending money ya don't have. I have the same problem with fly shops. When I went back to WI last week, I wanted to drop in the "The Fly Fishers" shop and just say hi and maybe pick up a couple of items I might need and can't find down here in AR. I walked out with almost $75 of stuff I think I might need. I bought a couple of fox tails, one red and one grey. I tied up a couple of flies that might fit the bill for your molting crayfish. Next time wew get together, I'll have to show them to ya. But remind me first. My memory is going fast. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Trav Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 So much stuff and such little cash. I might spend a hundred bucks everytime I walk in the door but there is always another hundred being planned for the next trip. Haha "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
RSBreth Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 The outlet store is the place to go. I always go there first.
