Chief Grey Bear Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 if so maybe we would all be without sin and living in harmony with the wild. I am defininetly in harmony with the wild, and sin depends just on which "religion" you happen to believe. I happen to believe that I live pretty sin free. At least according to the morals I have established for my self which are in line with the how the American Indians lived their lives. So as far it looks to me, I am without sin and living in harmony with the wild. Buzz Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I've never had any dealings with one of those retards, as Flysmallie put it. I just hope he doesn't get too close when I'm chucking a heavy wooly bugger. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
jjtroutbum Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 If some one wants to garner support for things they feel strongly about then that is there right, but the moment they decide to do something to someone else that infringes on there right to do what is legal. Then they should be crushed by the full wait of the law. In several states if this includes a felonious assault on a person, their lively hood or property they may wake up dead. Thunderin Gobbler Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I want to reply about the comment of it being despicable how we raise our livestock. But I don't want to take away from Bob's original post so I will keep my mouth shut on that topic. Just kinda hits a nerve with me. I'm with most of you guys. I think PETA is way out of their league. As I said before, they never have any real factual backing for what they say. In my personal opinion, I don't see how any true sportsman can honestly sympathize with anything they say. Get the facts first, because they sure don't.
Gilly Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I can understand attacking some fur farmers - Sorry fly guy but to the extent that I agree with you that the farmers methods might be wrong, nowhere does that allow anyone to invade and damage property. I agree with the poster above....it's felonious and if I were to feel threatened I would protect myself. No different than the Whale War show. I'd like to see someone take the guy with the huge nostrils and shove a meathook up his nose and hang his butt from the mast. Glorification of these extremists only encourages their crazy asses. www.drydock516.com
Fly_Guy Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Is there a government agency that protects against animal cruelty? I actually have no idea, but I've never heard of one. PETA obviously thinks there isn't, and takes matters into their own hands. I feel that [in instances not related to the direct gathering of food for yourself or others] you should be willing to experience anything you would force an animal to endure. Course, the fur farmers would have to change careers...and puppy mill operators... As far as fishing goes, if I didn't have chunks of my cerebral cortex and couldn't feel pain (only sensation), I could tolerate a hook in the mouth. As long as I was eaten, or quickly released. We would just have to learn to spit quickly when we took a bite of hamburger and felt the line!
Members Carp E Diem Posted August 13, 2010 Members Posted August 13, 2010 I would think most of them are atheists... So what would they know about Christians? What does atheism have to do with it!? BTW, most atheists know the Bible much better than most Christians (fact), and that's why they are atheists. And don't tell me you have one cow and one pig and one chicken that range free and eat organic...I'm not talking about the small farmer...I'm talking Tyson. Ever seen the footage of their factory? You probably should.
Members Carp E Diem Posted August 13, 2010 Members Posted August 13, 2010 Hebrews - the old testament law of animal sacrfices, ect... Christians - not so much. I hope you understand that without the Old Testament, there would be no New Testament. I love how the OT is the ugly step child that Christians just ignore and pretend isn't there because they can't rationalize the imorality of it. Matthew 5:17-20. According to Jesus, the OT law still applies. Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.
Thunderin Gobbler Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 As a matter of fact not only have I seen the footage, I have been in several of the biggest livestock feedlots and packing plants in the country. Of course I didn't like everything I saw, but I can say from first hand experience that many of the videos taken in these places are obviously fabricated to make them look worse. The biggest problem is that PETA is getting people like you to sympathize with them( if even just a little bit.) Their biggest objective is to turn sportsmen against each other. And boy is it working!!! One instance is the debate over bass fishermen keeping or releasing bass. Some use C&R methods only, while other keep what they catch. Neither one is wrong. Another is hunters arguing with each other about whether or not its right to hunt "high fenced" ranches. Once again, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. But we are doing exactly what PETA and the Humane Society want us to do- fight with each other while they silently push their legislation through to take away our rights without us knowing it.
