Members Tyler Posted August 14, 2010 Members Posted August 14, 2010 Well i just so happen to be on the search of a new rod and reel. I was browsing at Bass Pro and discovered that G-Loomis was there getting ready to release the NRX rod. I picked one up and couldn't resist. I now know why they put the price tag on the cork handle. This way you don't see the price first. You get to feel the rod first. I will be trying it out tomorrow. I hope its as good as people say. I will report back. I also purchased a Abu Revo STX reel to go on this rod. eric1978 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Wow. And I thought I was nuts paying half-price for a GLX. I've decided that the GL3's are good enough for me from here on out. I'm sure it's a nice rod, but...wow.
Members kre11 Posted August 14, 2010 Members Posted August 14, 2010 That new rod must find the fish for you, pick out your bait, and even set the hook all by itself! You've got one heck of a set up there, please post your thoughts once you use it. Not that I will ever be able to convince myself to get one, but I would love to know how good it feels and works for you. Hope it pays off, enjoy!
T-RockJaws Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I am a big G-Loomis fan and have several of their rods. Maybe I will be able to convince my wife that I need one of these for next spring! Make sure to let us know how it performs...
emjay Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Spinning rod looks killer. I will get one by next year
Members Tyler Posted August 17, 2010 Author Members Posted August 17, 2010 It performs very well. I figured it would cast nice and feel great.. But really i cannot believe the difference between this rod and all of the others i own. St Croix, All Star, Falcon, and Quantum rods. You can feel the difference and call me crazy but you can actually hear the difference too. Such as when you bump a rock, or when you flick your line against the rod. Trout Commander Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 It is also probably a lot easier to cast without the bulk of those 25 $20 bills in your pocket Nice rod, wish I was in a tax bracket where I could afford it! I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
T-RockJaws Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 JDC - if you start saving $1.00 a day, you could have one by spring 2012...
Trout Commander Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Fall with the way inflation is getting ready to kick us I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Quillback Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 It is a sweet looking rod. Tyler with your comment about it making "sounds", I can see in the future that we'll have rods so sophisticated that they'll be able to tell, based on the type of vibration, wiggle, bottom firmness, etc, what it is that your lure is encountering. They'll have little speakers built into the butt (with volume control of course) that will announce to you what it is, such as "Rock", "Log", "Mud", or, of course what we would all want to hear, "FISH ON!". The really good rods of the future will be able to tell you what species of fish it is and how big.
