Hello all...

Some of you I know from John Wilson's forum, but for those who don't... Greetings!

I live in Jonesboro, Arkansas and have been fly fishing for about 6 years now. I am this year's president of the NorthEast Arkansas Fly Fishers club. I fish mostly the Spring River, along with Bull Shoals and Norfork tailwaters.

I just accepted a position with a company in Springfield, so Phil will be seeing me in front of his place a lot in the future... at least I HOPE so...

I know a little about the Springfield area, but would like some advice/comments on relocating there. I have a step-daughter going into the 6th grade. I don't want to live IN Springfield, but want to be in an area with good schools for her. She also likes horseback riding and just bought a new (to her) horse to learn barrell racing and poles.

Anyway... I've looked online at real estate and have seen possibilities outside Springfield within a half hour commute to the airport area. Any comments on areas to avoid, good schools, or anything else will help. You can post them here or email me at tbeeson (at) hotmail (dot) com

Look forward to fishing with some of you...

OH... and DuckyDoty... HEY NEIGHBOR!!! :D

Terry- welcome.

There are some nice bedroom communities south of Springfield you should look at- Clever, Spokane and of course Nixa and Ozark. Good roads in and out of Springfield to those communities... and down to our waters here.

Let us know if we can help. We may pick you brain on your FFF affiliation up here.

Hey Terry,

I just moved to the Springfield area also. My wife is a realtor and after a little checking out of the markets and schools in the area, we decided on Nixa. Its a nice location and a growing market with pretty good schools. We enrolled the kids in a few summer school classes just so they could get a feel for the new school and meet a few kids over the summer. They both enjoy it much more than they ever expected. I would suggest the south side of Springfield or Nixa for the better schools and real estate prospects. Send me an email if you would like my wife to do some searching for you or send info on the area.

We'll have to get together and do some fishin some time

Hey Terry, Welcome to Springfield! South Springfield is good, but also very congested. If you like a little 'freer' living and would still like to be close to the airport, Willard is a growing community also and schools I believe are good. It is northwest of Springfield. This may/may not be what you're looking for, but certainly worth checking into.

I belong to Southwest Missouri Fly Fishers and we meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Springfield Nature Center. Fly tying demos begin at 6p.m., with the regular meeting starting at 7p.m. You are very welcome to come join us! I think you may already know a couple of our members from Wilson's forum.

Looking forward to meeting you!

duckydoty ---- you are also very welcome to come join us. (just read back through the post and saw you were new to the Nixa area.)

We just moved to Republic and are really happy with. There are a lot of new homes going up and we've been very impressed with the schools. They seem to be very student oriented and very progressive, not at all what I expected. In fact, we looked at Nixa, Ozark, & Willard and the we liked Republic schools best. It's got pretty good access to the airport from I-44 or West Bypass. The city's web site is http://www.republicmo.com. There is also still quite a bit of farmland around, so I imagine it would be easy to board your hoarse or find a place w/ land. Anyway, good luck and welcome to SW Mo.

Thanks guys...

I started yesterday and things are going good so far. Maybe the week after the 4th (starting the 10th) I'll have some time to make a trip to Taney.

My cousin took me around a bit last night and we wound up out around Willard. If they'd only put it closer to Taney it would be perfect...

My cell is 870-931-2462 so give me a yell that week and maybe we can meet up on the river... ;)
