Members Fishinbluedog Posted August 21, 2010 Members Posted August 21, 2010 Fished Fri. Am out of Baxter Found excellent surface feeding binge form 6- 9:00 on windblown flats next to channel drop Mixed bag with some real pigs in the bunch. Various surface baits and spinner baits would work. Caught about 11 fish in 3 hours, lost about 25[ thats topwater though] and had 4 real solid fish 16-18" and loaded with shad Some of the ones hooked up but not boated were hefty keepers Blackies and brownies The whites were even blowing up Looked like spring time out there Lot of action for fish that feel half cooked when you touch em,,,, some real warm water on the surface Good fishin to ya
glennL Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 glad to see the whites beginning to surface again. Thought maybe they left the lake. Glenn

We didn't have much luck this morning. I was throwing a Top Dollar Flat-Sided Lure made by Norman in #33 nutter color, it is about the best topwater on the rock for me since I lost my blabber mouth years ago. Looks a lot like the shad here in this area.Good colors and sails really well for long casts They are only $6.00 so not too bad. I been throwing it for the last year or two. Out produces a chug bug or spook by far, for me anyway. Went out the next morning but there was a wind up and out of a new direction. Not much happening, although I did get 2 shorts on the top. Graphed and saw big balls of shad. I think if the shad stay in that area , the next slick mornings will possibly be a repeat.
Champ188 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 That Friday morning bite was something else but it sure wasn't there Saturday and Sunday. Actually, caught a ton of nonkeepers swimming a grub in the same areas Saturday morning but by Sunday there wasn't even a grub bite remaining. Just a sign of things to come, though, soon as the weather and water temps cool down a bit.
