Guest csfishinfool Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Went to Mcdaniels yesterday just to mess around a bit. I went to the back low water bridge access up the river and seen a sicking sight. In the water under the bridge someone cleaned around twenty big largemouths, probably 100 white bass. And crappie mixed in with those. They were on the bottom of the river, in a huge pile. This is some bull... Which once again brings up my argument, why not have a set up like Fellows at McDaniels. With a small marina, electric motors only. Have some regulations, and also someone on the water checking Permits and limits. I assume that the few people that break the law and put a boat in, are only in it for food. Its some note that our city drinking water is polluted, unregulated, and unmaintained. Instead of making this another one of the countys beautiful places, the city has turned there heads, inresult letting the lake be overran by meth heads, and homeless people. Nothing says Ozarks like 55 gallon drums, more glass than the city dump, and fishing line everywhere. It makes me sick, it pisses me off, but most of all its just sad.
Ham Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 You might be able to embarrass the authorities into action. Take some photos and go talk to one of the local TV stations. Maybe they'll do one of those stories where they help fix a problem by making everyone aware of the problem. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
RSBreth Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 If there were that many fish I kind of doubt they were caught there, but even if they weren't it's still a big mistake for someone to use that area as their own fish cleaning station, whether they were legal on the amount and kinds of fish they kept or not. Like Ham said, take pictures, and include them when you report this kind of thing if you can. I do.
emjay Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 100 white bass? Dang, I think I've only seen like 5 ever pulled out of there. McDaniels is just a plain horrible place to fish period. Limited access, lake is full of what seems to be only dinks, trash everywhere, and just weird people.
