Members riverrat09 Posted September 13, 2010 Members Posted September 13, 2010 Does anybody know the results of the muskie tournament that took place last weekend.
shockley32 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I'm curious to find out, saw seveal of them on the lake Friday and Saturday. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
Members Muskie Bob Posted September 21, 2010 Members Posted September 21, 2010 Someone else mentioned he had heard there were 7 muskies caught with one over 40" (43"). Personally, I think this was bad timing for the muskie tournament. 7 muskies over 30" was probably good for the size of this tournament and the weather. I doubt if there were that many boats fishing it. I looked on the Pomme de Terre Chapter of Muskie Inc, but couldn't find any info regarding results. I didn't see any postings for muskies caught in 2010. Normally the muskie fishing picks up around mid September.........which I was looking forward too......but this year the weather is a little warmer. I hope others will report when muskie fishing picks up..

Have they discontinued it? "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson

What has happened to the stocking? Have they discontinued it? I'm not for sure how many fish they stocked the past couple of years, but i know they are still stocking. The MDC website has records of all the muskie stocked in missouri up to 2006. In 2006 they stocked 7,500 in Pomme De Terre.

I have heard they were going to cut back due to money but it is just rumors I think. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Walleyedmike Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I'm glad to see guys talking muskie's on the Pomme forum. I fish Stockton for walleye a lot, but I've always wanted to hit Pomme and try to catch a couple of muskies. No body ever talks about fishing them on the forum, so it has lead me to believe it may be a waste of my time. Especially since I have no idea of where to even start. So, is the great muskie fishing on Pomme one of the great secrets in the Ozarks or what? WM
conman Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 This is the Muskie report out of the Conservation Department's 2009 annual report. Muskellunge A total of ten fyke nets were set the second week in April and fished for three days, giving a total effort of 30 net days. A goal of capturing 90 adult males (>20 inches) was set in the 2007 Muskellunge Species Management Plan as a statistically valid sample. Of the total 107 muskie captured in the 2009 sample, 64 were males. The total catch rate for muskie was 3.57 per net day, compared to 6.95 and 7.63 per net day in 2008 and 2007, respectively. Size structure is good with more than 57% of the fish greater than the 36 inch minimum length limit, and more than 22% of the population greater than 40 inches in length (Figure 2). A total of 8,019, 12 – 14 inch muskie were stocked into Pomme de Terre in October 2008, which was the first of the prescribed pulse stockings that is scheduled to occur every sixth year as identified in the 2007 Muskie Management Plan. The targeted stocking number for the years 2009 – 2013 is 4,000 each year.

WM The statistics i've seen for the most part show that at Pomme the amount of hours spent fishing to catch a muskie are alot lower then the average in other states such as Minn. and Wi. as well as being lower then many other big name lakes. However right now the size of the muskie you catch in Pomme generally aren't going to average as big as many of these other places.
Members JRay Posted September 22, 2010 Members Posted September 22, 2010 September and October are generally good months to catch a muskie while bass fishing in my experience. I've caught a few on everything from flipping a jig to throwing a rooster tail for whites.
