Quillback Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 How many more long TD runs does Jamaal Charles have to make before Haley realizes that the guy is one of the top backs in the league? It makes no sense to have him split carries with Thomas Jones. Charles is a huge talent, I can't figure out what Haley is thinking.
Flysmallie Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Same thing he was thinking when he thought Cassel was the guy.
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 I disagree, running back is a tough position and Jones isn't that bad, especially when it keeps Charles legs fresher. I don't know that it was Haley's idea to pay big bucks for Cassel, it might possibly had been someone closer to him in his old organization. Cassel would be fine if he could pass. Running a little league play or two doesn't help either. Even Charles isn't going anywhere when he has to wait for the QB to run 10" to give him the ball, while he stands there where everyone can locate him. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
KCRIVERRAT Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Haley says it's all about "feel" as far as what back to have in at a particular time. Whatever. Look, Jones ran for over 1400 yards last year. He's here to get the tough yards and take an butt-whooping because his body can take it. I think it's good he's here. Charles will bust 56 yard TD's like he did monday after Jones batters the defense a little. I hope their styles compliment each other this season. They seem to be happy they're playing together. You need more than one running back to count on in the NFL anymore. As far as Cassel goes... he needs confidence in not just himself, but his TEAM! I know what it's like to be a QB. He got pummeled last year and needs protection. He showed some grit finally monday down near the goal line when he ran it to the two. Still... the jury's out up here in KC.
