Distance From Pyatt To Snow

Anyone know the Distance from Pyatt(62 bridge) to Snow Access? Would this be a good day float in the fall, if fishing was the primary goal or is it a little long?

Pyatt to snow is probably about 5-7 miles. Floating that stretch now could be an all day float if you fsih every hole and drag to the next hole. In the fall, I would definately be wanting some rain to float that stretch. As low as it is now, I would only consider wading. I fished Pyatt last week and waded down about a ½ mile. Water was clear and a little higher than it is now, but I would not have wanted to float it then.

I am thinking about floating it in Oct sometime. After we get some rain. Are there any big log jams along that stretch? I read there was a log jam about 3/4 of a mile down from the old bridge in Pyatt. I was considering Harmon to Pyatt, but I'm afraid of getting caught in a log jam.

I was wading and didn't see any log jams but you might want to bring a saw just in case. The creek is fairly narrow below the bridge in Pyatt so a log jam or a downed tree could pop up anywhere along there.

And wait for the falling water to clear a bit after a rain. Twelve and a half to thirteen feet on the gage at Kelly should indicate a good time to go.

This time of year CC is odd to say the lest a rain and its up, wait a couple days and you will be dragging the boat a bunch. With the lack of rain in the last couple months just makes the creek this way. Yea it will be an all dayfloat if you fish, so whats the problem?

I just wanted to try to find the distance, so I can plan a trip. If its 5 miles I'll do it in a day, if its closer to 8, then I might stretch it out to a two day trip. I don't get down the river very fast, especially when the fish are biting. But we need to get some rain regardless before I can go.

Since they are going to be generating on the White and Norfork, I was planning on going to Crooked Creek tomorrow. I could either go to Pyatt or Snow. I'll let you know how the fishing/water is when I get back.

I went to the Snow access today. Just one other perosn there fishing. I started with my fly rod and swithched to my spinning rod when my leader got too short and I realized I didn't have any tippet material with me.

Fishing flies, cranks, jigs and spinnerbaits yeilded me one sunfish and one rock bass. Water was way down and COLD. Water temp was 66° F. @ 10:00 am.

I left and went to the White River @ Cotter and landed 5 out of 8 trout hooked. Much better fishing when the water starts turning cold.

If you're planning on floating Crooked Creek now, bring a dolly for that camoe. Will make dragging a lot easier. Water level is down quite a bit.

Thanks for the update. Yea, its just too low to float right now. No rain in the forecast, so I just will have to wait it out. Guess I will head down south and do some lake fishing this weekend. I'm glad you were able to go down the road 30 minutes and catch some trout though. Thats the beauty of Arkansas isn't it?

I love Arkansas fishing. Mountain Home is centrally located to a lot of great places to fish.

I just started trout fishing about 3 weeks ago and I'm hooked. Been doing a lot better at trout fishing than smallmouth fishing.

We'll have to wait till spring to see if I can still catch smallies.
