My parents were thinking about giving me a guided bass fishing trip on Table Rock for my birthday in October. Would a guided trip be worth the money this time of year on Table Rock? Will the bass be biting very well around mid October? I know bass usually have a descent feeding frenzy in mid to late fall, but would I be hitting it a little too late? Also, I was wondering if you guys knew of any good guides at a reasonable price. Thanks!

BassAssasin, you should be just fine, October is great down here... How they will be caught, could be topwater, could be jigs, could be spoons... Things are changing too much to tell right now.. But as far as fishing in October fishing really starts to pickup that time of year... As far as guides go, well there are about 25 of us running around this lake at all times... Best bet is to go to the web sites, just use google and search for all of us.. You can make the choice.. Cost should be from 200.00 to 250.00 for a 4 hour guided trip.. 8 Hour trips are around 350.00 for most of us guides... Good Luck and Good Fishing!!

I agree with House. It would be a great time to have a guide. Captain Don would be a good choice for that time of year too. There are lots of guides that volunteer time and info on here for free. Bill Babler is awesome and fun to fish with, Captain Don, Eric P., Captain Joe, and many more. Bill Beck doesn't type on here, but a guy I would really like to fish with too. I know I am missing a bunch of names that have great reputations and post on here.

BassAssasin, most definitely yes on the time of year. Fall fishing is some of the absolute best. Also agree with Capt. Don on seeking out the websites and picking the guide that best appeals to you. I'm familiar with most of them and friends with quite a few also, so I won't single one out. But pick one, get in the boat, listen to everything they say because it's the gospel and have a great time.

Thanks for all the input guys! I really appreciate it. I've only been bass fishing for about 2 years now and I mainly want to go on a guided trip to pick up some pointers and to have access to spots that I'd never be able to fish on my own (don't own a boat...). I'll definitely be looking into this more within the next few weeks. Again thank you for all of your input. I'm really starting to like this forum!

One guy that is not mentioned on here very much is Jackie Davis. I have used him in the month of October for the last several years and if you want to catch big smallies on a jig, he is the man. The fish are still down deep, so if you are wanting to spoon or drop shot, one of the other guys would be great also. Good luck.
