Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 9, 2005 Root Admin Share Posted December 9, 2005 James at the hatchery just emailed me and said the indicators at the inflow went from 1 to 7 ppm overnight so the lake turned last night. I thought it'd turn quick this year.
Members SeldomSeen
How long after the turnover does the chum shad begin to turn up? I assume this isn't necessarily simultaneous with the turn? I always seem to hear about this about a week or so after it happens and always miss all the action, so thanks for the quick report. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 9, 2005 Author Root Admin Share Posted December 9, 2005 It theoretically could happen anytime but chances are won't till Table Rock's temp drops into the mid to lower 40's. It's 53 now.

Wayne SW/MO
Their die off threshold is said to be -45 degrees, but they also have to be near the dam at the time they turn belly up. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Wayne SW/MO
Sorry, I noticed the implication but there isn't an edit feature. Below 45 is threashold for Threadfins. I might point out that the fish become conditioned quickly and once there is a kill, dead or dying Shad aren't required to fool many fish, just something that resembles a Shad for several days after.. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
