Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 27, 2006 Root Admin Posted June 27, 2006 I failed to mention the people at Hot Spots contact us a couple of weeks ago and are gathering information in preparation to make a map of Taney. Long time comin' for sure. Not sure when it will be done- may be by the fall. Babler and I are submiting names of holes and fishing techniques for the verbage. I love their format- it should sell since there's no other map of the lake except what you find online.
MOBass Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I have to say that this is a mixed blessing. I don't know the lake that well and I'll probably pick up some new spots to try and it will help people that are down on vacation stay safe. The other side of the coin is that it will probably draw a little more interest to the lake and the bass fishery. Hopefully most folks will pursue the trout and leave the green fish to the locals.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 28, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted June 28, 2006 So far we haven't offered much info in the way of bass compared to trout unless they find other sources. It seems they are only interested in trout but I don't know everything they are doing.
Bill Babler Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 OPP's Might have let the bass-cat out of the bag. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
MOBass Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 If we are overwhelmed with hordes of anglers we know where to go now.
Members Fozzy Posted June 29, 2006 Members Posted June 29, 2006 I think it is a great idea, hot spots maps are in my tackle box on every lake in missouri. I like them cause if you have no idea where to go, they give you an idea. I don't always trust the "fish here" advice but they are a neat map... Taneycomo has needed a fishing map for ages....I'm glad, they are very detailed as well...
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Do you suppose they will change their 10' contour line format? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Nothing can ever replace Phil's maps of the upper end. I cut my teeth on them there maps.. so to me, they are still golden. Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Members Fozzy Posted July 2, 2006 Members Posted July 2, 2006 Yes those maps are good for the upper end, however I feel a good map of below fall creek, and all the way to forsyth would be nice...with areas to fish.....of course the island above the 3 bridges would be there.... Would love to have a good map with some tips and pointers.....
Members mo_bowhunter Posted January 24, 2009 Members Posted January 24, 2009 Bill/Phil - have you heard anything more about Hot Spots making a map? I forgot to grab one of your maps when we were down at your shop last week. I followed one of the guides all the way up to the wire with my GPS tracking my path - so I could save the safe path back up their for the rest of our three days of fishing.
