Billfo Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I live in Omaha. and have a small vacation house on Table Rock Lake. The vacation house has a Direct TV Dish on the roof (from prior owner). If I get Direct TV service at my main residence in Omaha AND get two boxes, can I take one to the vacation house when I go there alone ? I still want my family to be able to watch TV while I am at the vacation house (watching tv at the same time-both homes.) I dont want to pay for two seperate services because the extreme limited use at the 2nd house ie: weather before I go fishing ect. Anyone do anything similar ? AND I go to the vacation house more often alone to give my wife a break from me ! Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
Chief Grey Bear Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 My dad lives in Carthage and has a place on T-Rock. He is able to that with DISH. I can't speak for Direct. denjac Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 It will work. RVer's do it all the time. I think you have to input the zip code in your box, but not sure. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. Gilly Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Also depends on how old the dish is. Had to change the dish @ our cabin. Receiver was too new, dish was way old. Wouldn't think that would make a difference but it did. www.drydock516.com

Billfo Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 Good reply.. Do you know if anyone was able to watch tv at the other house at the same time ? Sometimes, I go to the lake my muself. Dont want to leave family without tv.. Box here & a box there... on at the same time. That is my biggest issue... Also depends on how old the dish is. Had to change the dish @ our cabin. Dutch Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I have Dish Network and have 2 boxes. I use one in the RV and one at home. You better contact Direct TV to find out what you have and what you need.
Chief Grey Bear Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Yeah. We have two recievers running 4 TV's in the same house. We run 4 different channels at the same time all the time.
