Members Greg W Posted October 10, 2010 Members Posted October 10, 2010 It appears that the lake is turning over. Does the fishing slow down during that period? How long will it take before it is not effecting fishing?
jeb Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I was diving in Avoca Cove yesterday, and the lake had not turned over in there as far as I could tell. I have not been out to the main lake for a couple of days, though. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Members fishofexcellence Posted October 10, 2010 Members Posted October 10, 2010 Been picking up on my lines for the last 3 weeks, be glad when its over. Fish dont stop feeding, Heard the shad feed on the floating moss.more scattered. All that crap on the line sure dosnt help.
laker67 Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Don't you guys read the forum from years past? Every year about this time someone starts swearing that a certain lake is turning over. If it's in the lower 48, it's probably not. Surface water temp has to reach 39.2 degrees. You guys always try to rush it by 3 months every year.
J-Doc Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I admit, in years past my catch ratio dropped during this time. However last year, I had better luck. I think the gunk on the line is what's spooking the fish cause they can see it. Maybe that's part of it. Hang in there and try different things to see what works. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!

Stump bumper Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 http://www.islandnet.com/~see/weather/elements/turnlakes.htm Good info, makes understanding these terms much eaiser. Everyone is in a hurry for the fall bite, but latley we have had a high pressure system resulting in 2 weeks of bluebird skies, clear water and that is rarley good for fishing, even if water temps are droping from summer highs. Next week promises some clouds and rain that will stain the water and make the fish more comfortable in the depths we a comfortable fishing for them.
