I don't know if you guys will understand, but I get a kick out of watching monsterquest on the History Channel. Call me silly, but nothing says American better that a bunch of guys out wandering around the backwoods with high tech gadgetry chasing bigfoot and then stopping to see if the poo is fresh.

I think the closest that I have gotten to a monsterquest experience is when I was fishing on a private golf courses pond in KC during the early morning and seen some giant paw prints in one of the bunkers. The grounds crew at the course swore that they had mountain lions, and the footprints in the bunkers don't seem to lie. This was before that guy in eastern KS ran over a mountain lion with his car. Whole thing freaked me out pretty good, went back to the car, thanked the greens keeper, and left. No fish is worth that risk.

I was wondering if anyone here has seen anything creepy while they were out fishing.

Interesting thread. I had a skunk go through my camp a couple months ago at Bennett. That was creepy not having any light except a very small fire and my cell phone until I could tell what it was. Does that count??? Beyond that I have nothing to contribute. I will definitely stay tuned though. I love the adrenaline rush/feeling of being in creepy situations.

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

I was fishing above the hwy 8 bridge on the Meramec. When I was heading back to my car I spotted a guy down stream from me...looked like he was tightlineing...couldn't really tell until I got closer. Turns out he just likes to take his pet aligator down for a swim on Tuesdays. Ya...dude had a gator on the end of a leash.

And even that is not as creepy as some of the things I see sitting in lawnchairs down there.

Haven't seen alligators on a leash before, but I have seen a lady walking her cat on a leash. I've also heard my towns mayor debate another person on why cats should be leashed. Darn cat leashers. Makes you wonder huh?

Anyways about that footprint in the bunker, I know that it wasn't a dogs or a bobcats print, which is what people usually say when they hear about these footprints.

I would have to say that my other creepy encounter came at Capps down by the lower access. As I was wading up there was this guy spin fishing, I said a nice hello and asked how he was doing. He went on about something that I didn't care to listen about and then started wondering if I was a game warden(like he hated game wardens and police). Needless to say I called the poachers hotline, don't know what happened to him but he was one creepy dude.

The creepiest and coolest encounter I had happened in a city park at night. I was doing some night bass fishing and as I was about to release a fish I felt something cold and slimey checking out my leg. It sent shivers up my spine and I jumped back (nearly went in the drink). When I turned around there was a Fox. It just kind of stared at me and then the fish and then me again. It clearly wanted that fish. I let the fish go and the Fox gave me a "What the hell" kind of look. The Fox ended up following me around the lake for the rest of the night and over the next few weeks every time I went fishing he would show up. He would get real close often 4-5 feet away and always perked up when I caught a fish. This went on for about 2 weeks. It was kind of cool afer the initial "surprise attack."

Several years ago, I was catfishing one night at Pigeon Creek area of Lake Norfork. Sitting on the tailgate of my truck, I seen something huge swimming across the lake. I grabbed my spotlight and shined it toward what I saw. KERPLOOSH!! What ever it was made a BIG splash as it went underwater. A while later, whatever it was, I could hear it walking up the bank about a hundred yards or so away from me. Grabbed the spotlight again and shined it in that direction. Couldn't see dung except the trees.

To this day, I still don't know what it was. I mentioned it to my dad at the time, and he suggested maybe a bear. I still think about that whenever I go night fishing there.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

That could have been me Troutfriend! I have been known to show my fishing license more than once around here! My creepiest was at Capps as well. Was by myself and saw an animal digging behind a tree. Could have sworn it to be a black panther or huge black cat of some kind. All I saw was this big long bushy black tail burrowing for something. When I got back to the truck and started driving to another spot a saw a big black lab with a big long bushy tail. lol I new then I was seeing things and should have layed off the beer that day! lol
