Murdoc Posted October 29, 2010 Author Posted October 29, 2010 Wow! Thanks for all the info. It's not that I don't like scud hooks it's that the last bunch of hooks I got seem to break off really easy and the fish would pull out about 2 seconds after I set the hook. I'll try some of the suggestions. Thanks a bunch!! Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/
Danoinark Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I like Mustad....prices seem the best for me and they have been around for eons. This is the one I use 80250BR Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

Murdoc Posted October 30, 2010 Author Posted October 30, 2010 If it works and less money, I'm with Dano! Call me cheap---!! Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/
Bman Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Hands down Daiichi 1120. Mega Ditto's One guess where he came up with that. We would NOT be caught on the water without them! I know that we have had hooked them up on Daiichi's when the TMC's wouldn't have. The only good line is a tight line
Greg Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Cheap-butt... I guess I'm even more "cheap-butt". I like the BPS brand. I've been using them for years and they've worked well for me. Hopper Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 I've got you beat, saber hooks from flyshack.com $6.99 for 100 and free shipping for orders over $35.00 and you'll get them 2-3 days. I've never had a problem with them, I've had di-riki and BPS hooks break on me while fighting fish. Gregg The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing.
Members Yakfly Posted November 2, 2010 Members Posted November 2, 2010 Me too! I love the Diachii 1130 - well again I love Daichii hooks in general. The 1130 is light wire, but strong, so you get a quick hookup - and has a sticky sharp point right outta the box. Daiichi 1130's have always done well for me.
Rolan Duffield Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I've always been a Mustad fan. Perhaps the older hooks wern't as sharp, though I never had a problem with quality.I haven't used their new style hooks yet. In my opinion, TMC hooks are not consistent in their quality. Some bend very easily and have experienced some breaking. Diachi's quality has been very good and they are sharp. Rolan
