Rage Tail Craws And Gman Jigs

I tend to always have a rod rigged with a jig and craw on my deck as I'm sure some of you do as well. Over the past year I have been using the Rage Tail Craws in Summer Craw, Bama Craw, and Green Pumpkin colors. These craws have the most wicked action in the pincers. In the lakes I fish, the bass really love them. I usually crawl them along the bottom very slowly with the occasional hop and the pincers wiggle enticingly with any movement whatsoever. They aren't bad as a swimming jig trailer either.

For my jigs I buy from a fellow in St Louis whose moniker on most forums is GMAN. GMAN's jigs provide high quality for an excellent price. I like the wide-gaps with the wire ties but he has everything you can imagine in a jig, including custom jigs if you are so inclined. I'd like to hear from others out there regarding your favorite jigs and trailers. It's always good to keep an open mind to something new that may help me catch more and bigger fish.

I like fishing jigs myself, I like the Jewell line of jigs, Bass-x and Omega jigs. For swimjigs I like Northstar jigs and Dirty jigs, I noticed that Jewell now has a line of smimjigs with a flatter head that most have, not that I need more jigs, but I may have to pick a few up.

For trailers I like Zoom Super chunks and Fat Albert twin tails. Caught some nice bass night fishing with football jigs and Zoom Big Salty Chunk trailers. I like the Netbait Paca chunks also. I haven't tried the Rage Tail Craw yet, but it's on my list, heard lots of good feedback on them.

For a swimbait trailer I like the Optimum Diamond shad, they are pricier that most paddletail soft plastics, but they are very durable and have great action.

The jig is one of my go to's. Due to going through so many, I make my own jigs. I make both ball head (like the Eakins) in various sizes and football jigs along with shakey heads.

I would have to agreed with the action of the rage chunk. I love it, but in the winter I will use something with less action like a Zoom lil Critter Craw.

I am big fan of Rage Trail craws as well. One of my go to baits. I really like the Rage tail chunks as as jig trailer as well. Both have been very effective for me and produced some of my biggest bass. I fish mostly jigs, flukes, trickworms, or topwaters, but if I had one bait to fish it would be a jig/trailer combo. Swim it, flip it, pitch it, drag it, or hop it. They are so versatile.

Not to get off topic, but the Rage Tail shad and the Rage tail Toad are great topwater baits....some absolutely explosive strikes when the fish are fired up.

I just picked up some swim jigs and can't wait to give them a try, when the situation is right for them. I was planning on using a grub(both single and double tail) for a trailer, but a paddle tail swim bait sounds like a good idea too. I fish mostly for small mouth in rivers and creeks, so I mostly fish with finesse jigs, and my favorite right now, is P.J.'s finesse baits, bass jigs in 3/16 oz. coupled with net bait papa chunk. I still like Uncle Josh's no.11 trailers too. I've caught some big bass on both this year.

I will definitely give the Rage Tail Craws a try and look into those jigs too.

I've used all kinds from Eakins to Booyah to BPS brand to Strike King Bitsy Bugs. I'm currently messing around with molds to make my own silicone and bucktail finesse jigs in 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4 ounce sizes. I got tired of not being 100% satisfied with what I was using, so I'm gonna make my own.

I tend to use more subtle trailers in the Winter also. I know some anglers who say that the action of the pincers is Ok in the cold as long as you are moving the bait slowly. They state that as long as the movement is extremely slow the action of the pincers is fine. The jury is still out on that one for me but I'm open to testing their ideas.

I use those also. The Rage Tail line has some awesome action. I'll often use the Rage Tail Shad instead of a buzz bait.

Some of you mention the Netbait Paca Chunks and I have heard nothing but good things about them. I'm going to have to try them out.

Picked up this little piggie on a 1/2 oz Bassx brown football jig with a brown super chunk trailer in one of the Bella Vista lakes today. Fishing was slow, got lucky, 22.5 inches, length girth calculator says 6.4, but I am going to be conservative and say 6 lbs. Not the greatest pic, I was holding it at arms length and still could not get all of it in the pic. Nice Black Friday special
