ollie Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Time is getting closer and we are getting ready for our 2nd annual clean-up on Hickory Creek. We now have someone to provide drinks, Kwik Mart which is nearby where we will be cleaning up. Good folks that want to see the creek clean and healthy. Please keep an eye out for the weather and dress accordingly. If you have waders please bring them for getting in the creek, but if you don't have them there will be plenty of trash to pick-up along the banks. Afterwards we will try and give thank you gifts for attending so please stick around for that. Remember, we will start at noon and it will last about 3 hours. Only thing that is going to stop us will be heavy rain. Hope to see you out there! Buzz Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I'll be there and I'll bring the canoe. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
ollie Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Thanks Buzz, I know I can count on you. Denjak, Wily, Chief? Are you guys showing up? wily Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 i'll be there early -- probably too early -- but we'll pu pick up some trash -- we can't stay long -- both the boys have something going around noon.
ollie Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 Well, it has come and gone. We had a decent turn out and picked up a lot of trash. Most of the trash we have been seeing is comeing from up on the banks. Most trash in the stream itself seemed to be gone, but then again we haven't had a flood in awhile so who knows what can happen by next year. Thanks Buzz for making it out and as always you made a difference. Here is one pic of the trash we hauled in. You can go to Facebook and see all the other photos we took. Just type in Hickory Creek Stream Team. wily Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 i'm sorry i couldn't make it -- my little boy had a birthday party at noon and then the oldest had basketball at 230. just didn't fall right...we'll be at the next one if we can. we were in neosho that morning, and we were going to drive to the stream, but the access that we usually use was closed...
Buzz Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I always look forward to our stream cleanups. It was good to meet some new people. Overall, I would have to say that the Stream Team cleanups have made a huge difference to the creek and I'm happy to be a part of it. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Gallagher Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Good Lord,.... Guy's, great work on cleaning up the trash, it's beyond me why some people like to go out & enjoy nature only to wreck the area by tossing out trash here there & everywhere. That's a lot of trash good job done by all. Carry out what you carry in...
