I use the 225-amp Pro Guides and love them.

There are lots of good batteries around. Just be sure you get somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 reserve amps and keep them well maintained. I have run many brands and haven't seen much difference in their performance. I have been running Exides for 3 years now and they still go all day long.

Well now that you asked.......I personally, like the Trojans better then anything I've used in years....I had a Trojan cranking battery finally go south this year. It came in the boat in 2003... It cranked the big motor, it cranked the 9.9 kicker motor, ran 2 large Lowrance color depthfinders, both wirh GPS, and the lights and bilge pump.. It went 7 seasons. It wasn't a huge battery either. It didn't even fill up the battery tray that came attached to the floor of the battery area. I do hesitate to back anybodies product nowdays... If the Pro_guides are made locally, might be the ticket ...?

What company is it that makes them locally? Is it North Star?

I may have overstated locally made, in all probability batteries like many other things likely come from one or two suppliers. I meant that with them being local their service is very good and they take good care of fisherman. Sorry. :-)
