DaddyO Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 How about everyone posting a Fly Recipe for those sweet flies that you tied. I'll start with mine. Fly: Hair & Copper Hook: #14 Scud Hook Bead: Copper Tungsten Bead to match Hook Size Thread: Brown 6/0 Tail: Pheasant Tail Fibers Rib: Copper Wire Body: Mix of Brown Dubbing made from Yarn and Blood Red Leech Sparkle Dubbing (60/40 mix). Instructions: Put the materials on in the order listed above and use a dubbing loop for the body. The buggier this fly looks, the better it fishes. Fishing Method: I use an indicator, when fishing this fly, in all types of water. The Tungsten Bead will make this fly drop through the water column very quickly. Make sure your indicator is big enough to support this fly. I have caught fish on this fly in Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas. I plan on trying it in Colorado later this year. Let me know how it works for you. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
flytyer57 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Woolybugger: Hook: TMC 5262 Size 8 Bead: RealFlyColorâ„¢ Bead (Caddis Green/Bloodworm Red) Thread: Uni 6/0 (red/olive) Tail: Fluff from the base of a turkey body feather for black/olive barred marabou Rib: Ultra Wire Brassie (red/green) counterwound over hackle Hackle: Generic rooster sadle hackle (grizzly/grizzly died olive) Body: Hareline Dubbin's Ice Dub (black/olive) There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

DaddyO Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I've still got two more weekends of VolleyBall tournaments before I can get out to fish. Has anyone gotten the opportunity to put any of these flies in the water? If so, what were your results? DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Trout Commander Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I've been out - but still haven't got my flies OB, I hoped you listened to FT57 and are punishing me since mine were the stragglers and it's not that the postal service ate them I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Trout Commander Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I could've sworn I had posted my recipe already too but don't see it. I will go over the specifics of hook and thread and get it added as soon as I get the chance. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.
