FishinCricket Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Stop picking on the guy (gotmuddy) Oooooorrrrrr......? Seriously though: 1. He brings it upon himself. 2. He's a big boy, he's welcome to pick back. C. If he's gonna go around quoting Eric in EVERY SINGLE POST HE MAKES (via his signature) then he should expect a bit of ribbing... Chief Grey Bear Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 As far as game fish go, if there is a season, a limit on a fish, and you can catch them on a hook with bait or lure, I would consider it to be a game fish. I have caught suckers, carp, and buffalo on a rod and reel, 2 of the 3 on fly rods. If you can hunt it, fish for it, or catch it in any way, then it is a sporting game. Bullfrogs are game, I gig them, and I need a fishing license to do it, and I do it from a yak or a boat. I don't think they are game fish. Seasons and limits have nothing to do with it being a game fish. A game fish is as listed by the MDC. jdmidwest Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Seasons and limits have nothing to do with it being a game fish. A game fish is as listed by the MDC. A game fish is a fish that is pursued as sport by a sporting method. Whether the MDC classifies it as a Game Fish is a mute point. To Oneshot and others, carp, suckers, and buffalo are fair game fishing whether by gigging, snagging, or hook and line. Nobody in the sporting society should condemn a legal method or a legal fish or there could be repercussions from the anti-sporting groups that would try to take away all of our sporting rights. Just because you don't gig or snag, there should be no condemnation of a sporting method as long as it is done legally. Just because you don't choose to try a particular sporting method, don't condemn others for doing it. Do you "catch" more fish by gigging/bowfishing from a canoe, kayak or jetboat? That's what I thought. cricket.c21.com
Zach Bearden Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 And just who the hell made them god? OOOHHH!!!! BURRRNNNNN!!!!!! Somebody wanna get that boy to a doctor? Okay, so then tell me... Do you "catch" more fish by gigging/bowfishing from a canoe, kayak or jetboat? That's what I thought. Dear good sir who just so happens to be a cricket whom fishes... Say I was to capture you (a cricket) in a mason jar. You're "caught". Say I was to throw a net over you. You're "caught". Maybe I could even put you in a plastic bag? A pot? A pair of hemostats? So long as you're in my containment, you are "caught". It does not matter the method of which I have "caught" you in. "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Member: 2009 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. Chief Grey Bear Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 And just who the hell made them god? How does classifing fish as game or non-game make one God??? I am begining to think you are spending too much time in Arkansas with GM. A game fish is a fish that is pursued as sport by a sporting method. Whether the MDC classifies it as a Game Fish is a mute point. As an avid outdoormans for 40+ years, you don't seem to know much. It does not matter the method of which I have "caught" you in. Indeed, your dictionary served you well... However, considering the discussion at hand (which type of watercraft helps you "catch more fish"), one would think it would be incumbent upon us to use the definitions of "catch" and "fish" as designated by the state/MDC/whatever... So tell me, good sir, can you "catch" a fish with a plastic bag? A pot? A pair of hemostats? Then I don't think you have much of a point... Ha, I love the signature too! I don't.. I think if GM has the hots for Eric then he should just come out and say it! I only gig frogs, not fish. Okay, then do a little mental gymnastics and replace "fish" with frogs... On second thought, don't.. Gigging a frog is toooooootally different than gigging a fish! Which means your comments have no place in this discussion! I concur with Chiefs assessment at this point, reverend... cricket.c21.com
