I'm actually from Wentzville, but I usually just say St. Louis since most people I talk to east of Chesterfield have never heard of Wentzville, Foristell, Warrenton, etc.

Welcome aboard. Lots of knowledge spread about on this forum. Every question on fishing that was ever asked has an answer tucked away here somewhere. Enjoy, and BTW I have heard of Wentzville.....live just a few miles east in O'Fallon.

Once the weather warms up a bit, I will probably be taking at least 2-4 weekends a month to go to bennett/montauk/taneycomo so feel free to hit me up if you ever want to go.... and oh yea! Welcome to the forum!! :)

Edit: I live off of exit 251 in Washington, MO(right on the way to fishing)

Yeah definitely. I went outside for some casting practice a couple days last week but the bone-chilling weather drove me back inside after about 20 minutes. But after it warms up a bit, or I get a terrible case of cabin fever, I will be back out fishing. Feel free to shoot me a pm as well.

And thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes.

I was born in Troy and lived in Wentzville in my younger years (a subdivision on I-40 named Fieldcrest). How I got up here in Seattle is a long story but I will be heading back to AR in the next couple of years to semi-retire on some property I bought on Crooked Creek near Yellville. Welcome and glad to see someone from my old stomping grounds aboard.

Welcome. Lots of information available here. The fly fisherman here know their stuff. I'm glad to hear you had a good time spinning at the "springs". What were you throwing there that gave the best results?

FYI, I live east of the MO River and I know where Wentzville is located. Not all of us are clueless.

I've been reading this forum for about a week and finally decided to join. I have fished for bass almost all my life, but last summer I made my first trip to Meramec Springs. I had a blast with spinning tackle, and I'm looking forward to bringing my fly rod down soon. I'll take all the advice I can get, especially fly-fishing tips. I look forward to chatting with all of you in the future.

Tight lines,

Ryan

Right on Ryan. Lots of info here and some pretty funny "debates" between "-baters" here as well. I'm from the deep south of STL but there are a lot of guys on here from your neck of the hood too. There's nothing wrong with fly roddin for bass....

I haven't been there in a while, but last time I went I fished with a spinning rod. I was using yellow and pink trout worms wacky rigged on a treble hook (I hooked the worm in two places). I think I was using 4# spiderwire ultracast fluorocarbon. I caught most of my fish midday in the area near the parking lot. But again this was a while ago. I'll be checking out Maramec Springs again this spring, but I am really looking forward to my trip to Taneycomo.

And don't worry patfish, fly-fishing for bass is definitely on my to do list.

Welcome! I am from Ballwin and this is a great forum with a ton of great people! There is also a fly fishing group that meets once a month on Thursdays at Queeny Park in Manchester (Ozark Fly Fishers). Check them out, they have outings, etc. Let me know if you want additional information.
