gotmuddy Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 I would agree with you about that. However it has been my experience that a stream fish fights twice as hard. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 with 26 miles between launches it makes LOTS of wilderness. When we floated the lower buffalo we saw many holes that were over 10ft deep even with the water as low as it was(gauge was at 2.6) The other factor is there is always food for big smallmouth in the white river in the summertime. And I don't think there is any gigging going on either. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
gotmuddy Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 And I don't think there is any gigging going on either. the lower buffalo would be a nightmare to navigate at night, I couldn't imagine it. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

flytyer57 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 An 18" smallmouth that weighs 7 lb 12 oz is an absolute pig. Oklahoma 7 lbs 12 oz 18.25″ Lake Texoma I wonder if this fish was checked for lead weights stuffed down it's gullet. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
chub minnow Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Sounds fishy to me. -Sorry, couldn't resist. Really though, that thing must have been bigger around than it was long.
flytyer57 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 This is probably the biggest smallie I have ever caught. It measured 18" and only weighed about 4 lbs as a guesstimate. This is a nice healthy fish and as you can see, it's not a skinny litte thing either. I find it real hard to believe an 18.25" smallie would weigh more than 7lbs. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
