Happy New Year all! I am not in a position to upgrade to a GPS unit for my boat, but I would like to get a nice set of maps for Table Rock. Who makes the best maps for topography?

I use the ones sold at WalMart - mostly yellow with blue and red. Just did a Google search. They are fishing hot spots. They are printed on Tyvek and have proven accurate and useful for me on several lakes.

If you want contour maps go with Structure Graphics. The lower lake maps are 11x16 ,9 pages on waterproof paper. The contour lines are detailed and it also shows standing timber. There are no lat. or long. lines and there are no fishing tips or hotspots on my version .

you can get a spiral bound book with the lake maps of every lake in missouri over 5000 acres for like $20. beats the hell out of buying single maps, although the fishing hotspots maps tend to be slightly more detailed and much more durable. just depends on how many maps you want, the book also includes stocking data and shock data for a period of years.

bass pro has the books i'm talking about. at the st louis one they are in a rack near the fishing hotspots maps which are near the fish tank.

Navionics makes the best high def lake maps on paper I have seen. Problem is, I don't think they have a Tablerock HD paper map yet. They do have a HD Beaver Lake map (actually two maps / a north and a south), that is, without a doubt, the finest paper lake topo map I've ever seen..Wish they would get a Tablerock set ready....and a Bull Shoals...

I've bought the Hot Spots fishing maps that are common around here, and they are pretty handy and accurate. The maps on this site help as well. Also, if you have an iPhone, Navionics makes an app that is very similar to what you'll find on the gps chart plotters. VERY useful, and is probably the best $6 i've spent there. I don't think the GPS updates as fast as an onboard graph, so navigating solely by that would be a mistake. But if you want a gps enabled map showing depth and position (as long as you have a signal), it's a good, cheap replacement.

The best I have found with the most contour lines is the Structue Graphics maps.

Ditto the SG oldies. The Hot Spots maps are better for general navigation (as in, "Where am I?"), but the SG's are much more detailed. Hard to use them for getting around because the pages aren't exactly in order, at least on my old set.

I guess I use structure graphics. They are super old school.Black and yellow maps. These maps have been passed down from my dad. I have spots that are marked on them from the 70's lol. On a side note, if you take these maps and scan them onto your computer you can overlay them onto google earth. Talk about a huge help!!!
