Trout Commander Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Yeah, it's written on his stationary with his name at the top, signature at the bottom. He wrote a mini-history lesson on the family who shared our last name. I would love to see that bit of history if you ever get a chance to scan it and have a machine to do so without risking damage to the original. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Al Agnew Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 About L'Amour's Sackett novels, I liked the "early history" ones where Barnabas Sackett first came to America. Of the true "western" Sackett books, I think "The Daybreakers" is my favorite. It was the one that was mainly about Tyrell and Orrin. Great casting in the movie version, with Tom Selleck as Orrin, Sam Elliot as Tell, and Glen Ford as Tom Sunday. The Tye character...can't remember the actor's name but he was also perfect for the role, and Ben Johnson was great as Cap Roundtree. Probably brings up another idea for a thread...movies made from books.
