The ban only applies to the Current & Jack's fork...And Eric is right...the Park Super wanted to crack down a couple years ago so he wrote a regulation banning kegs, beer bongs, jello shots, mardi gras beads, etc...Nobody's died of thirst down there yet...but I dont miss the litter that came with the beads & jello shots. Cheers.

The keg law went State wide last Aug. The State also outlawed polyproplyne coolers, too.

LOL a fix to change the law to styrofoam is in the works.

The styrofoam coolers have been illegal down here for quite a while, though loosely enforced. The reason is that they break into many parts when you turn a canoe over and the contents go everywhere. A good rule for helping keep the river cleaner.

My understanding is that as of right now styrofoam is still legal, tupperware (polypropylene)is illegal because they can't afford a dictionary in Jefferson City and wrote the bill wrong. Jello shots are legal, there may be individual county laws for certain rivers such as nudity laws on the Elk, but the statewide laws are covered in huber's post. In addition glass was banned a few years ago statewide, so put your pickles in some tupperware (they said they won't enforce that one). Overall I think these laws are good for the rivers and the whole experience, although it is govt. regulation.

Our law i\on styrofoam comes from the USDA forest service who does not have a say on other rivers in Mo that I know of.

So if me and 3 buddies go 1/4s on a 15 gal keg for our week long float we are good because each of us only posses 3.75 gal right?

hypothetical and in jest of course

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

You might get it ticket but thats the least of your worries...15 gallons is only 160 12oz beers...That might last 4 guys for 3-4 days but not much longer. ;)

Tip: The new refrigerator kegs hold 1.5 gallons, load up as many as needed and hit the river. Nice try government, keep them coming!

Wow, Mr. Scud! I really don't think that a few people who are more than likely conservation minded would act as your post implies. There is nothing wrong nor illegal with having a few while enjoying the river you are floating, fishing or whatnot. There IS something wrong with being on the river hammered and out of control. I have a sneaky suspicion that most, if not all of the anglers on this forum have had on occasion one or two while doing what they love best. Insinuating that we as a collective are nothing more than a bunch of intoxicated anglers who are looking to maximize our alcohol consumption and portability on watersheds is absurd. This group has given me more insight and respect to our home waters than anything or anyone else I have ever been involved with. Bunching us together with people tossing beads to see breasts is utter and complete crap!!!!!
