Smalliebigs Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Well, I know someone who would let me take out at the end of highway E north of Rolla (maybe a mile above it), so I was hoping to put in and float down to it if possible. And to answer your other question, Collin C. Davis passed away on Oct 21, 2010, and there hasn't been a day since then that I haven't missed him. Rob Rob, sorry about Collin, he is in a better place smiling down on you.I'm also sorry about not reading your post correctly, I didn't realize you wanted to float to that E. I'm talking about another HWY E way further up stream. Scott
Members walkeg Posted February 4, 2011 Members Posted February 4, 2011 Outstanding Al! We want to do as much of the river as we can. It is by far, our favorite for fishing that we have done. I figure with our "fishing and piddling", we were realistically looking at 35-50 days. We are just starting to put this idea into action. None of us are available for more than 4 days at a time currently so we realize the number of years that it will take to see it through. We are really just hoping to catch the right water levels starting this spring. Andy @ rt.66 will take us anywhere we want to go and does a great job of dropping our vehicle for us when we are ready to get out. If anyone is looking for a fun and flexible company to haul with, rt. 66 is it. Thanks, Mark A friend and I "floated" the entire Gasconade in the 90's, over a 6 year period. We started at Hartville on (I think) July 27th and drug and floting to the 33 mile mark (Forest Service Access) in 3 days. Most of the dragging was in the first 11 miles. Highly suggest a Spring float for a Hartville start. We would do a Spring and Summer float, usually 20 to 25 miles over three days, using paddles and trolling motors, fished a lot. Gasconade Hills and Graven's were used as outfitters until Jerome. Then took a johnboat and motor and buzzed the rest of the river over 3 days. Caught fish everyday on those trips. These days, my brother-in-law and I still try to take a 2 or 3 day float on the upper Gasconade every year, still using Gravens or Gasconade Hills!
