I made the trip down from STL today. I fished the upper section. Fishing was just OK and the fish seem to spook more then normal. Brought a five incher to hand in the hole right below Hwy N...a good fish from such a small hole. I lost two really good ones...one brook my line. I also shot a three incher over my shoulder so I don't know if counts as "to hand".

Forgot to add, there was a hatch yesterday. A very small white fly with dark colored body. If you want to match the hatch, take some small trico (I think that is what there called) flies with you.

Great repot Mic! Those little white flies get pretty thick down there. I end up cleaning about 50 off my rod after day on the BSC. Did you get a look at the one that broke your line? I had one snap me off that would have went 18" easy...by far the biggest fish I was able to get to take a fly...seen some bigger ones though.

No I didn't get to see the fish, but it made one hell of boil. It was in the hole I call the double L. It boiled in the froth.

Mic,

Great report. The Double L holes that you are talking about, the top 90 degree hole that turn right can hold some nice fish. I think that hole is actually called the "Honey Hole" ( i think).

No I didn't get to see the fish, but it made one hell of boil. It was in the hole I call the double L (park at the red gate, down the hill, upstream past the big downfall, a big hole, 90 degrees, up a rifle, to another hole, another 90 degrees, and another rifle). It boiled in the froth.

Same hole where that fish broke me off as well......

I was down there Saturday afternoon (1-29) from 1:30 -4:00. I caught 7 little bows (5-7 inches) and 10 other shiners and chubs (I guess that’s what they are; they have a pretty yellowish stripe). I got most of ‘em in the first two good holes just downstream from N. There was a nice hatch around 3:00 turning on every “off species” fish in the creek. This made it really tough to fish a dry/dropper rig. “Get away from my dry you little fly drowning Sons a- B1t%^@$’s!” hehehe All-in-all it was a wonderful Indian Summer day.

Just got back from a whirlwind trip to Blue Springs. I caught the big one! He was 19 inches and delicious. Nothing left but a bunch of 5-inchers, best I could tell. :D

Oh well, schucks, that creek must stink now. No reason for anyone to ever fish there again. Let me say this again, there is no reason for anyone to ever fish that creek again...

Seriously though, I'd like to think that anyone on this message board would be cool enough to CPR (catch, photo, release) that or any other fish landed in that stream.
