Mitch f Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 As I was watching this video, I was struck by how slow the movements were of these smallmouth. It reminds me to slow down in the winter when I'm fishing. These are large fish that seem very wary of the bait, or are just in the winter time doldrums. It seems the less movement imparted by the angler, the more the fish respond. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
BolivarBasser Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 That's an eye opener. Definitely gonna effect my fishing this winter.
Guest Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Thanks for the video. That guy was in ice fishing nirvana, I will fish nothing but hair jigs in cold water for the rest of my life.
Gavin Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 One thing that struck me was the orientation of the jig...when it was sitting there horizontally, the fish ate it...when it went vertical they seemed to lose interest.

Yea, that was interesting. The jig definitely appeared more lifelike in the horizontal position. Sort of proves the old adage about presentation over lure selection. Dave
