Stump bumper
Just wondering if there is one brave soul that can fish through this?
J-Doc
I fish during the winter but when water temp and air temps are around freezing, its not worth it to me. I can't imagine fishing in 5-degree temps with wind chills in the negative double digits. Just crazy! I bet someone will be on the water. Hope they are in a Ranger af least! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience! jeb
I have not left the property since the first snow flake fell. No sense fishing in this kind of weather. Guides would freeze solid constantly. After living in MN for 35 years, I'm kind of hard core when it comes to winter fishing. But there comes a point.... Quillback
If I had unlimited funds, I'd fly to Florida, stay in a fancy motel, hire a bass guide every day for a week, and come back next Friday when temps (hopefully) have returned to normal around here. jeb
Wife and I took a little tour of some of the ramps today. Hickory Creek is all iced up, all the way across the channel. That kind of surprised me. And the public ramp is for sure closed, as mentioned before. Prarire Creek road and parking lot are still very snowy and not plowed at all. There is solid ice in the ramp area. Most of the no wake zone is ice free, though. Horseshoe Bend ramp area was pretty snowed over and not plowed either, with some ice out from the ramp. But the channel just in front was free of ice. Hwy 12 bridge ramp was open, and busy! Probably a dozen trailers parked there, and several guys fishing right around the ramp and bridge. Saw a pro pulling in with Folgers wrap all of his boat and truck as we went by. I imagine all of them will be open quickly given the warmup. Got a bunch of good pictures. Hopefully, this is a once in a lifetime occurance. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Stump bumper
Stopped by Monte Ne today and the launch looked good no snow in sight, but I saw about 30 gulls sitting on ice in the middle of the bay going toward the lake, the ice was covered with water so I would not have known it was ice if the birds had not been walking on it. Looks like it could still be a little dangerous, but should be gone in a few days.
