ozark trout fisher Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Sounds good! The winter lakes are a great place to hone your fly fishing skills.
moguy1973 Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I know you are wanting to fly fish, but I caught a couple in a very short time last year after we could start keeping them at Lost Acres in Overland on a "montauk special". Just a woolly with a brass inline spinner on an ultralight spinning rig with 4lb mono. Seemed almost like they hadn't seen something like that for some reason because I caught like 3 in about ten casts. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Members STL Matt Posted January 23, 2012 Author Members Posted January 23, 2012 I'll have to try that, Jim. Do you put the spinner in front of the bugger?
Addicted to Creeks Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 montauk sells them like that Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds. —Charles Dudley Warner
