I was able to get out and fish this past weekend. On Saturday I launched out of Buck Creek and on Sunday out of Spring Creek. As Mike Worley has already said there appears to be a few fish wanting to look for warmer water. I was able to boat around 20 each day with several keepers both days. Great to be on the water and not be shivering all day. My fish came on several different lures, jigs, jerk baits, crank baits, and grubs. Again, like Worley was saying you can find water in the upper 40's and lower 50's if you look far enough up the creek arms or at the backs of southern facing coves. While I caught fish during most of the day I did seem to catch more after lunch time.

This was the largest I was able to get to the boat. Don't worry about the lure in her mouth I just put it there so I would have an easy reference to see how long she was. She was caught in 50 fow on a jigging spoon!!! I didn't take the time to weigh her but I'm guessing right at 5 lbs. Things should only be getting better but it looks like mother nature may not be completely through with winter just yet. Oh well, it was fun while it was happening.

Do be careful running the lake at seven foot below pool level. Lots of solid bottom in places the map shows as water.

Ham, you took the words right out of my mouth on ( > 150 views and two comments. Hmmmm.) and with all of the other anglers I saw on Saturday and Sunday I would have figured there would have be several other post. I guess none of the one's looking at this post or Worley's are members that fished this past weekend!!!

I guess the real reason is probably more like "Bull Shoals is the big secret located between Forsyth and Midway that no one wants to talk about." But based on number of boats I usually see there someone must be talking somewhere, just not here. Don't worry, I'll keep my comments and pics to myself next time. I wouldn't want the lake to get crowded.

Thanks Hogfan for the comment back. I wasn't "fishing" for a pat on the back but simply curious why others are more than willing to gain information but never seem to share. I know lots of folks fish tournaments and that tends to make them more tight lipped. I don't and like to offer help to others whenever I have a little success.

Cajunangler don't take offense, I am one of the 150 but haven't fished down there this year but still like to hear what's going on.

I'm sure there are others like me but there will be some that never post that's just how it goes. It's a great fourm don't get discouraged.

I came down Saturday for a 4 day trip. Finally got on the water about 1pm in the Theodosia arm. It was windy, so I didn't think I could hold my boat still long enough to throw a jerkbait, so I mainly fished a grub. In 4.5 hours I only managed 1 short bass. Next day I went to Pontiac to get gas, then my motor started having issues, so that was it for the trip. Some nice people helped me out and I was able to get my boat trailored and dropped off for service. Disappointed I drove back to STL Sunday evening. Hopefully they'll get the bugs out and I can enjoy the upcoming spring season. Please keeps the posts coming, they are very helpful for a novice like me, thanks!

Sorry, cajunangler, but "Weekend Fishing Report" is a rather nebulous topic. If you'd mentioned it was about bass fishing, I wouldn't have read it. But I did, and I have nothing to contribute, as green fish don't interest me. :)

Well powerdrive, I guess like the song about the Streak says "Don't Look Ethel" but it was too late for her to turn away. I guess the temptation to find a report about whatever kind of fish you are hoping to catch was more than you could take without turning away. No worries, I doubt I bother sharing much info in the future which should be beneficial to all. I'll just lurk anonymously in the abyss like most others on the site.
