PAT92B Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Ive got a 16' roughneck with a 25hp motor prop not a jet. Im interested in bass fishing on this river hopefully for smallmouth but im not sure if i can get away with using a prop motor on this river. im not sure if the lower section would be deeper.
Brian Jones Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I fish the Gasconade between Riddle Bridge and Rollins Ferry and with the exception of spring time after a rain I cannot think of anywhere that you'll be able to go very far in that boat. If the USGS river gauge at Rich Fountain is reading above 4.50 you can probably run in the above area with minimal difficulty. If it is lower than that, you really need a jet.
gotmuddy Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I haven't fished the gasconade but I have ran quite a bit of skinny water and if you take your time you can weasel your way upstream(slowly) with a prop unit in a foot of water. I have a jackplate and that helps alot. trouty mouth 1 everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
