Well I tried friday in all that wind! Geees it was rough. Started out at Highpoint nice and calm in the morning time thought I was gonna catch alot of fish as nice of a morning as it was. Caught nothing!!! Stayed there 3 hours and Jesse caught the only fish 14 in bass black. Moved 500 yards down to get out of that 30 mph wind at times seemed more. Had enough so we went to Masters fishin dock got out of the wind but still no fish. Did'nt even have a bite all day. Not one fish for me and my other friend but jesse caught the only one. Hey Straw Hat had troubles with my knots on my slip bobbers kept on slideing to easy and if a fish did hit it. It would just slide through. And Amanda's Knot fell off ? But Jesse had thease copper spring looking things. He put it on and it worked. He bought the takle box at a yard sale they looked like out of the 70's Do they still make them?

Some of those pre-made bobber knots aren't worth a hoot. Generally, they work fine, but I've had some that wouldn't hold either. Try another one and pull it good and tight. If the knot still fails, throw 'em away and try another brand. Good thing their cheap! I've got a buddy that just uses a thin rubber band to make slip bobber knots. Just cut the rubber band in half and tie it sround your line, it will slide up and down like the pre-made knots.

Walleyedmike is right on the rubber band knot but I had trouble casting as they would not pass through the small eyes on the end of my rod. I use to use the ones that they sell at Walmart. They are a yellow peice of string on a short peice of plastic tubing. You run your line through the tubing to the desired depth and then slide the yellow line onn the tubing onto your mono. Tighten the knot on the yellow line and you are in business. My only problem with them is they are a little pricey for just a small peice of string. I wnet and bought some heavy gauge cloth string at a fabric shop. I cut a small piece about 6" long and wrap it around my line 5 times in a spiral. I take both ends and tie two square knots. I tighten each one real tight before tieing the next one. Tie them as tight as you can without crimping the line. Trim the loose ends to about 1/8" long so they don't catch on your rod eyes. Wet it and it should slide real easy. As far as the wire slip knots... I haven't seen those since I was a kid... and we won't say how long that has been!!!lol

Glad you mentioned the yellow string ones Straw Hat. I just started using slip bobbers last year, and boy did it help! I bought a package of those at Walmart the other day and have them on my rods ready to go. I agree about the price being a little high, think I'll try your method eventually too, but for now I may as well use up what I payed for. Hope to get out there for the first time this weekend.
