MaxDrown Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Some of my top producing Crackbacks How do you fish that pattern? What's your technique? -- Max Drown
Idylwilde Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 How do you fish that pattern? What's your technique? Dry! and at the end of the dry drift a strip back over grass or edge of grass. Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
Ill Trout Bum Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I like to tie the Crackleback body using uni stretch floss...typically I tie them in Lt. Olive and Pumpkin color. Dano I second that!! My absolute favorite with a grizzly hackle. Scott
MaxDrown Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Dry! and at the end of the dry drift a strip back over grass or edge of grass. I do not understand that sentence. Can you please re-phrase? -- Max Drown
Idylwilde Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I do not understand that sentence. Can you please re-phrase? Fish it dry (ON SURFACE) through the normal drift. ( Normal Drift is fly drifting on the surface at same speed as current.) Then at the end of the drift when the current pulls it down ( Weight of the line in the current will pull the fly under the surface.) Then strip ( Hand pull it back) The fly is good when a hatch is occurring in the grass or edges of the grass line. Hope this helps. Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
MaxDrown Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Thanks for the info. Very cool fly. -- Max Drown
MaxDrown Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Oh, one last question (maybe). What size hook do you use for those flies? -- Max Drown
Terry Beeson Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Some of my top producing Crackbacks Hmmmmm.... those look very familiar... Like they would be in a bin at Reed's... TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
Idylwilde Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Yes they are. It's one of the flies I tied that worked so well they have them in the shop. The Red, Blue, Chartreuse,& Yellow are all great fish catching patterns on the Current River,& Eleven Point, Spring River. Tying some Midge patterns now to test out and see if they work well. I have not named them yet. As you can see I am the holiday spirit at the bench by the colors. LOL Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
