vacation Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Hey all, I am fishing Lake Conway this weekend with a buddy for crappie, but was wondering how the bass fishing is on that lake? Any inside in crappie or bass would be appreciated, not looking for spots to fish, just general lake information, depth, types of fish....thanks
exiledguide Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Lake Conway is the largest man made Fish and Game Commision lake about 6500 acres shallow averages about 6 foot full of Cypress trees, stumps, laydowns etc and full of fish. Jigs, plastic worm and spinner baits for bass, live bait or jigs for crappies or bluegill, also I have seen guys rig yoyos from tree branches with minnows for crappie. Good sized fish but it can be a heartbreaker but when you figure out a pattern you can have spectacular days on Conway. You need to be carefull with your prop and stay in the marked boat lanes when you are moving around the lake. It's quite a bit like Reelfoot Lake not very clear and almost as good fishing. I moved back to MO in Dec 2007 but had some great days on Conway. You can get more info from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commision website. If I was fishing there this week I would be throwing a not very heavy pumpkin or watermellon brush jig and pig, 7 to 10 inch watermellon or green pumpkin worm and a chartruse and white spinnerbait. Good luck this is the time of the year I miss fishing in central Arkasas.
exiledguide Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Forgot to mention I fished out of Mayflower area. If it gets windy the lake can get rough.
