fishbait3 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 has anyone fished the area straight across from the crabtree launch, if so is that a good area for bass or crappie. Also when cat fish season comes any suggestions on to where to go for that.
straw hat Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 As far as the catfish are concerned I would have two recommendations. From mid-April through June-any rock-riprap. From July to November any deep chunk rock bank on or near the main channel, especially if it has some timber. At night the flats near these same chunk rock banks are usually good. Good Luck.

THanks straw hat would u use liver, shad, or shrimp
straw hat Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 During that early spawn season I would use river worms (not store nightcrawlers) or minnows. In the summer you could use any of the items you mentioned. I especially like fresh cut shad. Sonny's Stink bait (from Bass Pro) works well at this time also. I find you catch more fish on the Sunny's but they tend to be smaller.

Members Shad Attack Posted March 24, 2011 Members Posted March 24, 2011 Thanks for that info. I have heard that by aldrich bridge is a decent place whats your opinion. Aldrich bridge has some good catfishing, especially right underneath the bridge itself. However, the bridge itself is closing for some kind of work in mid april and i don't know how (or if) this will effect the fishing there. also, i was down there today in the morning and it was full of people. it was hard to put out a line without it getting ran over by a launching boat. now, i understand that there is some access elsewhere in that same aldrich area (by the dove fields) that is really good for catfish. i went out there last week to check it out last week and it looks pretty promising. will probably be there saturday night if i'm able to talk the wife into letting me out I'd Rather Be Fishing...

Members Shad Attack Posted March 28, 2011 Members Posted March 28, 2011 Where is the dove fields or is that the corp property around the aldrich bridge i am not sure of the name of the road that its on but on hwy 123 coming from fair play there is a road named Front street. take this road to a very sharp curve. right before that curve there is a dirt road heading off to the left. take that and it forks with both ways terminating in water. the one on the right goes to the flats I'd Rather Be Fishing...
