hoglaw Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Wow, crazy stuff. An entire boy scout troop is doing a wilderness survival/canoeing expedition from Payat all the way down to Yellville. They'll be camping a few nights and eating bass by the stringer-full. Also, the UofA Sigma Nu chapter is doing their annual spring float with the tri-Delts somewhere in there. Should be beer bongs a plenty and some good music. If you're looking to fish this weekend, I'd steer clear
Members creekin bassnerd Posted March 31, 2011 Members Posted March 31, 2011 Someone should tell the drunk greeks that the buffalo river is that way...
gotmuddy Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I could not think of a worse stream to float for beer drinking than CC. too many obstacles. I think the boy scout troup will catch mainly goggleye everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

I think the boy scout troup will catch mainly goggleye That post cracked me up because I have been on so many trips similar to both of those... I was always the one in the back of the flotilla with a rod instead of a beer in my hand... Oh and Boy Scouts pretty much always bring copious amounts of food so I doubt they'll be eating too many smallies- although I would still hate to be planning a trip for that weekend. http://flyinthesouth.com/
hoglaw Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Guys, this was an early April Fools' joke - hence the winking smiley face. I did an overnight with my brother and a friend on the creek and was thinking - what would keep me from doing a float? A boy scout trip and a fraternity trip in the same day would keep me off the river. Anyway, Saturday was the prettiest day of the year for a float. Very little wind and bright sunshine. Unfortunately the cold front from last week really did a number on the fishing. We caught a few, but nothing to brag about....unless you're into carp. I caught a couple of carp that made the trip for me.

gotmuddy Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Throw a watermelon lizard under the concrete bridge. You may or may not catch some nice smallies. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
hoglaw Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 I was wondering if you were trying to keep a few regulars off the creek to give yourself a little more elbow room. It looked like someone had a nice camp about a mile or so down from George's Creek, on river right past past a chute. The bass fishing was slow for us too. We caught a few nice largies up river from snow, but not any smallies over 14". I think that cold week slowed them down quite a bit, and I couldn't hardly fish Sunday due to the wind. I've been thinking about how to catch those monster carp, but I don't know anything about them. Sounds like a blast. That was us. When did you pass us? We saw one canoe that flipped over - I grabbed their paddle for them when it made it down to our hole. Then my buddy saw a solo. I was passed out...I mean asleep in a hammock until about 9:30. Glad to hear it wasn't just us struggling...no offense.
gotmuddy Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 There is a excellent place to camp about a half mile above georges creek. there is a nice gravel bar and a deep hole. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
hoglaw Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 caught all my bass on a crankbait. It was indeed bad slow. The wind was brutal on Sunday. Muddy, that's my normal campsite you're talking about - just upstream from a house with a cross on a bluff. That's a good hole too. I got out and walked around and could tell no one has camped there since I did in October.
