I got to looking at my Missouri and Arkansas Licenses and I don't know about you, but I miss the old postage style Trout Stamps that the States issued. Each year I looked forward to seeing the new colorful design. It was a delight to see what species was featured and who the artists was. I know Duane Hada from Cotter, Arkansas was commissioned to do many of the Arkansas stamps. I am not sure if he ever did one for Missouri. Anybody know when both states ended them? It would have been neat to have had the forsight keep a collection. I guess as I age I just reflect more on "those" days. :D

ps: WOW, I JUST CHECKED EBAY AND FOUND ONE FROM 1991, AN ARKANSAS STAMP DESIGNED BY OUR OWN AL AGNEW....I MAY HAVE TO BID ON THAT. IT'S ACTUALLY A TROUT STAMP POSTER, WITH THE DESIGN, AND ON SALE NOW HERE MESSAGE.

I can remember signing a couple of them in Missouri when I was really young, like seven or eight, and I'm 20 now so do the math. I now keep all my lisences and duck stamps, ect. in one box just for future reference. Anyone wanna buy a few unfilled Iowa turkey tags from spring 2005? lol jk.

What I always find interesting is how different states issue liscences. When I was in north carolina i got a lisence and it was printed out on regular old ink jet paper. I couldn't beleive it.

I remember when they first did away with stamps in IA, you could still get the actual stamp from the DNR if you requested it.

Might be something to check out in MO. Let us know what you find.

if you still want a "stamp".....you could always move to pennsylvania or new york. they still issue them. my brother went back last summer and it was still a stamp.

Shawn, they used to stock rainbow in the lake near Bull Shoals dam. I remember that guides would take a whole pontoon boatload of people out at night to fish for them. You had to fish many feet deep to get down to the cold water. I think for all purposes the walleye used them for feed and they are not stocked anymore.. As to why they were called Lake trout I don't know. I think they took on a real bland color for one thing....Dano

I remember that too.It seems like it wasn't to long ago[2 or 3 yrs ago]in early April all the commercial docks around B.S dam had net fulls of rainbows to be stocked.I just thought Lake Trout maybe a diffrent kind of trout not a Rainbow.
