Let's use this as a perfect example of why, after passing a background check, you should be subject to a thorough psychological examination before handed a pistol. bouaaaaah.png

I have to agree with Eric on this one.

That model # could be a distributor special for DU, or even just mis-stamped. It happens. Otherwise it looks like every other LCP I've seen.

They can be a little finicky about what ammo shoots well, but that's true of most little auto's. I bookmarked this last year while looking for something else, you may like it - one guy's totally unscientific but interesting testing of a bunch of .380 ammo. http://www.citybillys.com/380%20data

Congratulations on your win!!!

The LCP is a very good pocket pistol. Mine has functioned flawlessly with about 300 rounds so far with anything I have used. Keep in mind that Ruger specifically states in the owners manual printed in red "Do not use +P ammunition". I personally prefer Hornady Critical Defense for carry, and Winchester FMJ "white box" for range practice. If you have a CCW license, and want to use it for carry, put it in a pocket holster. DeSantis makes a couple very good models for the Elsie Pea at a reasonable price.

Thanks for the congratulations and the advice! I've definitely decided to keep it.. Which holster position is most comfortable, guys?

I'd guess that's accurate.. The unphotographed side has a DU emblem (the ducks head) etched into it...

So which model number to I use when ordering a holster or spare clip?

I pocket carry mine in warm weather when my Springfield XD 40 Subcompact would be difficult to conceal. I use a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster.

For inside waste band carry the Crossbreed Minituck is said to be the most comfortable holster made.

Use the link above to view Midway's entire listing of holsters. Go to the Shooting tab on the toolbar, then drop down to holsters, then make, and finally model.

Size and magazines of all LCP pistols are the same with the exception of those that have the Crimson Trace Laser sight installed on the bottom. They require a different holster.

The magazines fit all, and come either with or without the finger extension.

Since I've already stated my ignorance plainly here I'll ask you guys:

1. Did I "register" my handgun when the guy did the FBI check on me? Is there anything further I need to do to register it?

2. Does "registering it" make it "lawful to possess"?

3. Until I get my CCW, am I legal to put the pistol in the glovebox?

1. Nothing further to do. You did not "register" the gun, that is not required. The phone call was the required NICS check. National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

2 If by "possess" you mean carry concealed, no. You will need a Carry Concealed Weapon license. If you mean just to lawfully own it, you did as soon as the NICS call was completed.

3. In Missouri, yes. A person at least 21 years old can carry a loaded firearm in their vehicle without a CCW license.

What people used to call "registering" a handgun in Missouri was the old permit to acquire that was needed to take possession a handgun. It was done away with several years ago because too many jurisdictions were making into a registration, and a hassle to owning a handgun. It was never intended to do either, and was intended as only a background check of the person wanting to acquire a handgun.
