Duck Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Having a tough year catching Whites, today started at Butler and fished past Hausman's had 16 keepers of 14-15 inches, no dinks. The females still had eggs and the males were squirting. Anyone have guesses why this year is so slow and unpredictable. Water temps of 62 way up the river. Most on X-Raps in Ghost. Just means we have to go again, darn it, but someone has to do it. Duck.

Just this weekend did I start catching dink males. Everything else has been large males some decent females and one monster sow over 4 pounds. The bite has been so good on the James that I have only gone to Swan once and still have not made it over to Beaver. Most of the fish have been caught on clouser minnows with the fly rod and some on swimming minnows in smoke, white, and purple with 1/8th oz jig heads. The clousers have been white and grey, white and chartuese, purple and grey, black and grey, and purple and pink combos. I've been thinking it has been a pretty good year so far.
