Hey all, I've never been down to Grand Lake but I've heard good things about the fishery. A buddy and I are planning on heading down that way in mid June, what can we expect the bass bite to be like that time of year?

-Thanks

There should still be a strong shallow bite for bass in June. Of course there are a lot of variables. Just remember, on Grand the docks(and the brush tied underneath them) are your structure for the most part. If the water comes up in the willows, even if it's only 12' or more, there will be bass in them. There should be a good C rig bite by then as well on the long tapered primary points. Really you should be able to catch black bass however you are comfortable fishing by June. First week of June is usually the start of the Catfish spawn in the rocks which is a lot of fun too if you are inclined.

Thanks for the tip, I fish Lake of the Ozarks quite a bit so fishing docks should be right up my alley. We also did plan on setting some jug lines for catfish, but it sounds like maybe we could also do well with a rod and reel.

If you can catch fish on LOZ, you can catch them on Grand. I have always thought the two fish extremely similar. I grew up fishing Grand, but I always feel right at home fishing LOZ.

Hey Birdwatcher, I've heard of that catfish bite in the rocks in June but never tried it - any general areas on the lake you would recommend? I have also heard shrimp beneath a float works well for the spawning cats, but again, just what I've heard.

Come on guys, just stick your hand in that hole for the big catties!! :slow: Not for me, but I know several guys who do it during the spawn on Grand.
