Fished Blunk again this evening. Got there just before dark and caught 4 on the fly rod. On the 5th fish....snap and my 4 piece rod was now a 5 piece. Had to switch to spinning gear and as soon as it got dark, the bite was one. Fished till about 11 p.m. and caught several big sows and only 2 dink males. Great bite tonight!

Have you heard any paddlefish rolling up at Blunks yet?

Talked to one fella yesterday that said one boat came up with one. Must still be down below.

Ah, bummer on the fly rod. Hope it had a warranty! I wish I would have a chance to get down there again but things don't look too promising. Were you bank fishing?

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

Yeah, I got a warrenty on that rod. It is about the 6th time I've broke it on fish. It is one of my favorite rods that I've caught 50 lb kings on, several 30 inch plus rainbows includinge a 36 inch beast, gar, whites, and just about everything you could imagine.

I paddle across the river in a canoe and wade about knee deep on the other side.

Seth...I saw some a few weeks ago when the water was warmer just above the shoal in the deeper water, 3 to be exact. I anticipate with the warm weather and a little higher water the past 72hours you may start seeing some action up there.

Hope you get it back in time for your AK season then. Do you mind my asking what rod it is? Your opinion on gear holds lots of weight to us folks that don't use ours quite as much as you do.

Winston Ascent. Lower end Winston rod that I really like the feel of. A little softer rod but lots of backbone.

Thanks for the report. Any idea how much longer the whites will be running down there like this? I'd like to make one more trip down there for whites, crappie, and paddlefish before the end of the month. I may have to take out a small loan to afford the gas though. :eyes-on-fire:
