Gavin Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Hears the closure levels from the NPS compendium...They are very conservative IMO. eric1978 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 We did JF last April right around this time, and I'm pretty sure the Mountain View gage was just above 3.0. Great floating, a few "exciting" moments (including a punctured canoe hull), mediocre fishing. The section from the Prongs to 17 was the most challenging water to float. I actually prefer JF when it's dead low and you're dragging, but I'm a weirdo.

Jack Jones Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 How High? Usually after smoking the whole joint, I'm too high to paddle straight at all. Just kidding........I couldn't resist. Al Agnew Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I think that once it gets above about 300 cfs, it gets pretty tricky for inexperienced people, or people floating solo in a tandem canoe.
GloryDaze Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 We floated it at 3.7 one weekend from the Prongs. Fishing sucked, but the paddling was pretty fun. What I remember the most about the water at that level was it seemed that nearly every riffle or bend in the river we had a few options on which channel to take. Obviously, when the water is low you are limited to only the main channel. We had fun and I sure don't recall the river being unsafe, just tricky and swift. Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
