flytyer57 Posted April 18, 2011 Author Posted April 18, 2011 chain saws are forbidden in the wilderness area of buffalo. I could understand it if that rule does not apply to firefighters fighting a forest fire in the park or said "wilderness areaa." There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
tjulianc Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Power saws, are prohibited, except pursuant to the terms and conditions of a permit. see section 2.12 which regulates audio disturbances. http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=ecfr;sid=9ace752a77d467111b217820c3621e0c;rgn=div5;view=text;node=36%3A1.0.1.1.2;idno=36;cc=ecfr#36:1.0.1.1.2.0.1.8 Since the superintendent of the park is who gives out permits, then if they want to use a power saw, they just have to give out a permit for themselves to use one.
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 when we were living in central OR a large fire started in the mountains just to the east of us. Like all fires they brought in the bulldozers and skidders o help the firefighters. Eventually it reached a wilderness area and they stopped fighting it, moved the equipment to the other side of the wilderness and started prepping to stop it when it came out. I do remember that they just let it go when it hit the line. In the west they have wilderness smoke jumpers who jump in to put out fires, small ones, in the wilderness areas. They then get to walk out with packs that I believe were in the 80# range if I remember right. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
gotmuddy Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 forest fires aren't bad for the land. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
flytyer57 Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 forest fires aren't bad for the land. No, but I don't think it would be a good idea for anyone to go out and light them up just because. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
chambug Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 We have dozens of wildfires in Texas right now that have burned over a million acres in hundreds of counties, and hundreds of homes and ranches have been burned out. Pray for our firefighters in Ark. and Tex. chambug

Wayne SW/MO Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 HMMMMMMMMMM....NO responses? Kind'a makes me wonder? Why?? I feel for the people there, but I'm not familiar with exactly where the fires are. We don't get in depth reporting about Texas here. Would you care to comment on the fires in Arkansas? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
flytyer57 Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 HMMMMMMMMMM....NO responses? Kind'a makes me wonder? I did post a response about a certain ranch in Crawford being in the path of those fires but I deleted it. Want me to repost it? There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
