Help! Heading down to fish Table Rock from April 24 to April 30. I am new to the lake and want some advice on catching smallmouth around the Indian Point area. Anyone care to give me a few places to try and what to throw this time of year for bronzecack? It would be greatly appreciated. I'm specifically interesed in something close Jake's Creek.

Going to be lots of boats on the lake with the big tourney. Don't have much in the way of helpful advice except pack some patience!

what are the odds that many of them are going to be down in the shell knob viola area?

Viola isn't a bad area to fish and many of them watch the forum and even post and ask for advice. Advice will be thin for that week. Viola isn't a bad spot even for the tourney. You might want to drop Don House a PM....he might throw some ideas your way and might not with the tournament going on.

It would be worth it if you are here all week to book one of the guides the first day to insure your success for the rest of the week. I know it is a chunk of change for a guide but worth it after all of the other money invested in a fishing trip. As a matter of fact.....I have a friend coming down from Minnesota that week and I took off work to fish all week myself. We are going out with Babler one of those days to insure his success!

Shell Knob has all of the species of bass and is a good area too. If you are focusing on smallmouth then you might want to head more toward the dam area.

I just saw you guys are the outdoors radio show in KC. Eric Prey might be another person to PM. Here to cover the tourney or vacation?

I own a place down on Indian Point so I'm just coming down for some R&R next week with the wife. I keep my boat at Rock Lane, and figured most of the guys fishing the BASS tourney would head for LM in the creek and river channels. I want to focus on some SM around Indian Point and the dam but that's not my specialty so I thought I would ask for some advice. I'm not covering the BASS tourney but I'll be back down the following weekend covering the FLW. FYI, you can listen to our radio show on Thursdays at 6 p.m. via the internet at www.outdoorguysradio.com or www.1510.com. Phil Lilley is scheduled to be one of the guests this coming week.

The east side of Coombs Ferry can be good. I would hit the drops around deep water and work towards the 86 bridge.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Hillbilly Deluxe...

Did not have any paying clients for the BASS or the FLW.. So I will speak up..

Indian Point area will get Hammered over the Next three weeks one way or the other, really the whole lake will take a beating, going to hit it just about perfect for the spawn, it has already started in some places in and around Indian Point, Kimberling City, even down buy Long Creek/Big Cedar it is really picking up now.. Just get out there and fish, elbow to elbow is what I have to do..

Location, Location, Location... Best bet Pea Gravel anything, pockets, primary points and secondary points in the Bigger creek arms like Jakes Branch, Little and Big Indian anywhere you can find it towards Point 5 towards Kimberling City to the Point 2 in Long Creek.. Water Depth 10 to 30 feet, Sunny Days seems deeper Cloudy Days they roam a lot.

Here are a few for the best bite on those small jaws.. 1) Shakey Jigs with smaller craw looking plastics.. Stay with your basics natural colors, Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Cotton Candy, or with Red or even Purple flakes, I'm really doing well with the 4" Zoom Vibera Craw, picked up a few really nice small mouth on it last week in your area.. Make sure you tip the pinchers in spike it chart color..

2) Split Shot Rigs with Zoom Fish Doctors, in same colors also tip one end with spike it..

3) Windy days Spinner Baits tandem willows.. Best color for me Cole Slaw by chompers or War Eagle.. All chart and white skirt and blades or just plan old all white with gold blades...

4) Last but not really on right now on windy days is a 4" Zoom Fat Albert Grub same colors, but add smoke with red flake and Salt and Pepper to your list, run these on a 1/4 ounce dart head, swim around pea gravel points and pockets..

Slow is the key for everything, if you think you are going too fast then down twice as much..That should at least get in the right location and with the right baits.. Hope your week in a nice one have a fun time on the Rock!!

Good Luck and Good Fishing
