flytyer57 Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Went to Cotter to fish the White tonight. Mega caddis hatch goin on. There were so many caddis coming off the water that at times it looked like a snow storm. I tried to get a pic, but by the time I got the camera ready, they would slow down. I did manage to get a pic of one that landed on my arm though. Also got this pic of a brown I caught tonight on a olive bugger. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Ham Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 How can you drag a WB around when there is a Caddis hatch on? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

I tried an elk hair caddis but it was too big and the trout just ignored it. But they still hit the bugger. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Ham Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 The Caddis coming off at Rim last Thursday seemed really white in color. I'm really inexperienced at dry fly fishing , but I'd guess it was a size 16 or so. I had three flies that were working. One got destroyed. One got broken off. One caught fish until I left. I can't easily acguire more. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

They were about a size 16 and all I had were elk hair caddis that I used in WI that were about are a size 12-10 somewhere in there. Gonna have to tie up some smaller flies. Although I don't think the fish were taking on the surface. I think they were taking emergers caught in the film. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
