jeb Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Water was running so fast across Old Prarire Creek road (we live just off that road) yesterday that it peeled up the pavement in one spot: John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Stump bumper Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 Lake level is now at almost 1132 feet with the top flood pool being 1130ft so that puts the flood gates under 2ft of rising water and the rivers feeding in with no signs of cresting. Seems they have no choice but to open the flood gates wide open and I know that is not good for the people who live downstream. Just saw a post on Table Rock that said gates will open to 5ft, they can open to 9ft.
sfiser Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 it appears we have a crest.... until more rain comes. 1,131.61 Gates are open 7 feet, only other time they have been open that much was 2008. http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/WCDS/Reports/Data/Beaver.htm anyone remember what it got to in 2008?? I remember it was over 1,130 for a short time but I dont remember how much.

I remember it was over 1,130 for a short time but I dont remember how much. I remember the big fuss when the COE opened the gates up without notice. It caused massive property loss and damage. I saw a photo of a trout dock in Cotter that was pinned under the highway bridge during that release.
jeb Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Went down to the dam this evening and snapped a few pictures. Pretty awesome site. Here's one: Old Prarire Creek Road is flooded over and closed right now. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Guest Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Thats one heckuva fine photograph.. What kinda camera were you shooting?
jeb Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Thanks. It's a Canon G5. The Cannon G line is really nice. Gives you a lot of power if you like to set things manually, still does "auto" well for the wife, great lenses and still pretty compact. I'll probably upgrade to the current generation, G11, soon. That will be my 3rd one. The first two pictures I posted were from my cell phone camera, and it likes to tint things a little red at times. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Stump bumper Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 Well Beaver is going down finally, back to 1129 ft this morning, maybe they can slow down the gates today. Table Rock at a record high is not a good thing since thier release is in such a populated area.
Members derekburleson Posted April 27, 2011 Members Posted April 27, 2011 Here's a story I shot out at Beaver yesterday. A lot of debris floating by, but the owner of Hickory Creek Marina said the very worst of it was Sunday. http://4029tv.com/news/27687093/detail.html
